St. Croix Hosts Triathlon on December 2, 2018
The island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands is gearing up to host the Beauty & The Beast Triathlon on December 2, 2018.
After hundreds of entries were received, VI TRI, a 501(c)(3) organization running the 2018 triathlon on St. Croix, has announced the winners of their “Fly, Stay, and Race for Free” sweepstakes. The grand prize winner was Darrell Moses who won a three-night stay at the legendary Buccaneer Resort, free entry into the race of his choice for this year’s race and flight reimbursement. Second place went to Alberto Vivas who will receive free entry into the race of his choice and third place went to Jennifer Zeldis who won an official triathlon t-shirt. Athletes who race in the triathlon will have the opportunity to win another flight reimbursement during the awards ceremony as well as other fabulous prizes.
The 2018 triathlon committee is currently running their largest promotion yet with athletes receiving 15% off when registering before August 8th using promotion code “keeptri-ing.” Athletes have the choice between three races being offered: half-distance triathlon, sprint triathlon and, for the first time, a sprint aquathlon. Relays will also be offered in the Long Distance Course and Sprint Triathlon
The race has certainly been a favorite among professionals in the triathlon world, including 8-time IRONMAN® Champion, Wendy Ingraham who said “There is a reason I have returned to St Croix’s triathlon for over 20 years. The people, the challenge of the course, the food; it is truly a race you cannot miss on your bucket-list.” Athletes who take advantage of the fabulous savings will surely have an unforgettable experience in America’s Paradise. Plus, another great bonus is that passports are not required for U.S. citizens.
The VI TRI committee has partnered with the US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism and National Park Services for this year’s race which aims to raise funds for the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center, My Brother’s Table and the Caribbean Centers for Boys and Girls Club of the Virgin Islands, all of whom were greatly impacted by Hurricane Maria in September 2017.
